AGREEMENT

OCONEE COUNTY ADOPT A HIGHWAY PROGRAM

WHEREAS, Oconee County and (Name of Entity) recognize the need and desirability of a litter-free and visually improved road system in Oconee County; and

WHEREAS, Oconee County has agreed to initiate an Adopt-a-Highway Program and establish the same for the community and civic organizations as well as private businesses and industries which desire to contribute to the effort to maintain cleaner and more beautiful roadways in Oconee County; and

WHEREAS, the individual participants of the above-named entity are aware of the potentially hazardous nature of the work which is to be performed and have agreed to follow safety guidelines and instructions as adopted and approved by the South Carolina Department of Transportation used in said Department’s Adopt-a-Highway Program; and

WHEREAS, the individual participants of the named entity have agreed to and do release and hold harmless Oconee county, its agents, servants, employees, successors and assigns as well as the named entity for any injuries that said participants may suffer or damages they may cause or suffer, as a result of participation in the county Adopt-a-Highway Program as indicated by their signatures hereto.

In consideration of the foregoing and upon proper application, Oconee County does hereby recognize the above-named entity as the adopting organization for: (Roadway Name) from to in Oconee County, South Carolina.

The above-named entities and volunteers accept the responsibility for picking up litter along this section of highway four (4) times per year for a period of two (2) years beginning and ending .

The above-referenced entity understands that Oconee County may terminate this agreement and / or remove the Adopt-a-Highway signs bearing the program participant’s name or acronym if, in its sole judgment, it finds and determines that the group is not meeting the terms and conditions of this agreement and of the total program.

The above-mentioned entity understands that because of the limited spacing on the Adopt-A­Highway signs, group names my have to be abbreviated and has written its name in the boxes below as it will appear on the signs:

By their signatures, hereto, the following persons have agreed to participate in four (4) litter pick-ups and abide by Oconee County and SCDOT guidelines and to hold harmless and indemnify Oconee County, its agents, servants, employees, representatives, successors and assigns and sponsoring entity for my claims for injuries to persons or properties they may suffer or damages they may cause or suffer as a result of participation in the County Adopt-a-Highway Program.
